Net employment is expected to decline in Hyderabad during the period between November 2005 and April 2006, as compared to the previous six months, according to a TeamLease-Gallup employment outlook survey.

TeamLease Services Private Limited is a staffing solutions company and The Gallup Organization studies human behaviour and nature.

The survey was conducted among 543 respondents (HR heads or CEOs) from Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune. The study covered sectors like manufacturing, financial services and IT/ITeS besides retail, hospitality, exports and construction. The unorganised sector was not covered.

According to the survey, the net employment in the three southern cities is projected to grow at rates lower than the rest of India. It adds that Chennai is the only southern city that projects a significant growth in net employment as compared to Bangalore and Hyderabad, which project a flatter trend in net hiring over the six-month period.

One out of five companies in Bangalore expects a status quo in hiring till April 2006. On the whole, however, corporate India expects a substantial growth in net employment.

One-third of the respondents expect to hire people from sub-urban areas and Class A/B towns. Only one out of four companies expects to hire at entry level, as compared to two out of three companies with regard to junior level (one-three years of experience).

Middle level hiring (three-seven years of experience) is expected to be the highest in Hyderabad and Pune. Senior level hiring is projected to be significantly lower.
