The company reached an employee base of 2,400 in its first year of operations, 5,300 in '03-'04 and 14,800 in '04-'05. It expects to touch 36,000 by the end of financial year '05-'06 and has witnessed an average employee growth of 123% over the last three years. Projected growth rate for the latter half of the financial year '05-'06 is likely to touch 44%. According to Ashok Reddy, managing director, TeamLease, “We are on track to be India's Largest Private Sector Employer by 2007. Our growth is a validation of temporary staffing as an infrastructure for corporate India's growth. We are also seeing increased public policy acceptance of our role in reducing frictional unemployment and anticipate maintaining our growth for the next few years.” According to Apoorva Kulkarni, General Manager – Personnel & Administration, Kodak India Limited, “TeamLease's growth demonstrates an understanding of the partnering organizations business. It provides us a great way to supplement our hiring efforts to meet the peaks of our customer demands”. Temporary staffing is a $200 billion dollar industry globally but is relatively small and young in India with only $200 million in sales. Temping in the organized sector is gaining increased acceptance among companies in India as a tool to improve competitiveness and is an effective alternative to outsourcing in the unorganized sector. Teamlease offers a range of temporary and permanent staffing solutions and has employees in over 245 locations across the country. The company's revenues of RS 150 crore in 2004-2005 are expected to increase to Rs 350 crore in the current financial year. |
