TeamLease Services, India's largest staffing company today announced
that it has more than 25,000 employees on its rolls placing it among
the top 25 private sector employers in the country. The company reached an employee base of 2,400 in its first year of operations, 5,300 in 2003-04 and 14,800 last year. It expected to touch 36,000 by the end of this fiscal and had witnessed an average employee growth of 123 per cent over the last three years. Projected growth rate for the latter half 2005-06 was likely to touch 44 per cent. About 55 per cent of its employee base is currently in the four metros and Hyderabad. Tier II cites like Pune, Ahmedadbad, Lucknow, Madurai and Mysore account for another 20 per cent with the balance spread across 175 locations across the country. According to Ashok Reddy, Managing Director, TeamLease Services, said the Company was on track to be India’s Largest Private Sector Employer by 2007. ''Our growth is a validation of temporary staffing as an infrastructure for corporate India’s growth. We are also seeing increased public policy acceptance of our role in reducing frictional unemployment and anticipate maintaining our growth for the next few years'' he added. Temporary staffing, dollar 200 billion dollar industry globally, was relatively small and young in India with only dollars 200 million in sales. Temping in the organised sector was gaining increased acceptance among companies in India as a tool to improve competitiveness and was an effective alternative to outsourcing in the unorganized sector. Teamlease offered a range of temporary and permanent staffing solutions and had employees in over 245 locations across the country. Its revenue last year was Rs 150 crore and this was expected to increase to Rs 350 crore in the current financial year. |
