Job Description: Planning, Estimation, Budgeting, and Tendering (Civil)
Position Overview: We are currently seeking a meticulous and skilled Civil Engineer for Planning, Estimation, Budgeting, and Tendering to join our dynamic construction company. This role entails overseeing various facets of project planning, cost estimation, budgeting, and tendering for civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning:
Ø Develop detailed project plans encompassing timelines, resource allocation, and task scheduling.
Ø Liaise with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
Ø Identify potential risks and devise strategies for risk mitigation to ensure project success.
2. Cost Estimation:
Ø Conduct comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects covering materials, labour, equipment, and overhead expenses.
Ø Utilize industry-standard software and methodologies for precise cost estimation.
Ø Analyse historical data and industry trends to inform cost estimates and maintain competitiveness.
3. Budgeting:
Ø Formulate and manage project budgets, ensuring adherence to cost estimates and financial goals.
Ø Monitor project expenditures, identifying variances against budgeted costs.
Ø Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to forecast cash flow and manage financial risks.
4. Tendering:
Ø Lead the tendering process for civil engineering projects, including preparing and issuing tender documents.
Ø Evaluate tender submissions, considering technical and commercial viability, project specifications, and pricing.
Ø Negotiate contracts and agreements with selected contractors and suppliers, ensuring alignment with project objectives and budget constraints.
Ø Provide support and guidance to project teams throughout the tendering process.
Qualifications:
· Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
· Proven experience in project planning, cost estimation, budgeting, and tendering within the construction industry.
· Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Primavera, Procore, MS Project) and cost estimation tools (e.g., RSMeans, CostX).
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the construction industry.
