Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
2. Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit & loss statement, and other reports
3. Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
4. Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
5. Secure financial information by completing database backups
6. Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
7. Analyse financial information and summarize financial status
8. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
9. Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process
10. Provide input into the department's goal-setting process
11. Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
12. Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
13. Support month-end and year-end close process
14. Communicate effectively with clients
15. Contribute to a strong client relationship through positive interactions with client personnel
16. Communicate with manager and/or director on work status and client issues that arise
17. Work on debtor and creditor reconciliation and following up with the receivables.
