Job Description

Advocate job recruitment in  High Court of Meghalaya.

Eligibility : In order to be eligible for appointment by direct recruitment to the cadre of the service the candidate : a. must be a citizen of India; must be a holder Of degree in Law of a recognized University; must be practicing as an Advocate in Courts of criminal and civil jurisdiction on the last date fixed for receipt of applications and must have so practiced for a period Of not less than 7 (seven) years 

Competitive examination for direct recruitment:a. The competitive examination for appointment of District Judges by  direct recruitment shall consist of; b. A written examination comprising of 3 (three) papers of two hours  duration each. Each paper shall carry 100 marks. The syllabus for these  papers as prescribed by the High Court is attached at Annexure-C,  and  Viva-Voce examination shall carry 50 marks. 

The candidate from General Category who obtain 60% or more marks  and the candidate who obtain 50 % or more marks in Reserved Category  in the written examination shall be eligible for viva-voce. 

Selection of candidates shall be made on the basis of overall merit and suitability. 

Total Vacancy: 3 Posts

Salary Range: Rs.51550- Rs.63070 Per Month

Age Limit: 35-48 Years

Application Fee :Application Fees for the post of Grade-I Meghalaya Higher Judicial Service is Rs.1000/- (Rupees One thousand) only for General Candidates and Rs.700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred) only, in case of Schedul

In 1947, the Gauhati High Court was established on the 9th of September on a resolution adopted by the Assam Legislative Assembly that a High Court be established for the Province of Assam. In exercise of power conferred by sub – section (1) of section 229 of the government of India Act, 1935 as adopted by the Indian Provincial Constitution (Amendment) Order, 1948, the Governor General of India was pleased to promulgate on 1st March 1948 the Assam High Court Order, 1948 establishing the High Court of Assam with effect from 5th April, 1948. Sri Harilal Kania, the then Chief Justice of India came to preside the inauguration of the High Court at the invitation of his Excellency the Governor of Assam Sri. Akbar Hydari and the premier of the Province Late Gopinath Bordoloi.
