Qualification : Officers of Central Government or State Government or Union Territory Administration or Public Sector Undertakings or recognized research institutions or Universities or Autonomous or Statutory Organizations: (a)(i)holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or (ii)with five years' service in level-10 in the pay matrix (Rs.56100-177500) Qr equivalent. rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department; and (b)possessing a Master's Degree in Law from a recognised University and having three years experience in teaching Law subjects.

Desirable : 1 .Master of Philosophy or Doctorate Degree in Law from a recognised University. Note 1: Period of deputation of officers belonging to Indian Police Service shall be governed by the tenure rules of Indian police Service Officers. For nan-Indian Police Service officers, the period of deputation (including short term contract),including period of deputation ( including short term contract) in another ex-cadre post, held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organisation or department in the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed four years,

Scale of Pay : Level-11 in the Pay Matrix (Rs.67700- Rs.208700)

Age Limit : Not Exceeding 56 years

Method of Recruitment : By deputation including short term contract

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA),trains officers of the Indian Police Service, who have been selected through an All India based Civil Services Examination. The trained officers will be posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in their respective states under whom the other sub-ranks of police force will be working.
