Job Description

Job Purpose (Job Summary)

Provide Application Development capabilities to technology enhancement activities that Invesco has deemed important to the success of achieving their business goals. Position faces both internal business clients and technology professionals assisting with both defining and implementing tools and processes to achieve viable, appropriate and sometimes market leading solutions to business problems. This role will be asked to assist in support responsibilities for the team when high volumes of requests are received. The Investments team operates on shift work (9am/10am/11am/1pm 5pm/6pm/7pm/9pm AST) with the requirement for out of hours and weekend working throughout the year. Candidate should be aware that work start/end times may vary during the year by 1-2 hours in order to enable rotations and effective shift coverage across the team.

Key Responsibilities / Duties
  • Provide Production Support to mission critical Trading applications
  • Gather Business Requirements for Enhancements
  • Enhance and maintain existing codebase
  • Develop release scripts for code promotion to production environments
  • Create and Modify Autosys (batch job scheduler) definitions
  • Assist with developing improvements to team processes and procedures
  • Complete all tasks related to technical analysis, building and unit testing, quality assurance, system test and implementation in accordance with the IT development life cycle
  • Analyze requirements, design, build and test system components or amendments
  • Always conform to documentation, coding and quality standards as defined
  • Understand client business and make recommendations and technology suggestions to solve problems and improve efficiency
  • Understand architecture of applications in order to effectively troubleshoot problems and develop more efficient production processes
  • Be prepared to carry out business analysis tasks to ensure that the development/change meets user requirements and expectations
  • Prepare for and support user acceptance testing
  • Communicate with internal and external customers, supervisors and management using clear, user-friendly terminology (emails, phone, and meetings)
  • Assist project and line managers in producing estimates for the development phase of projects and enhancements
  • Provide On-Call support for systems based on agreed coverage timeframe
  • Handle general updates and configuration changes/requests
  • Facilitate rollout of new applications and modules
  • Identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Provide On-Call support for systems based on agreed coverage timeframe which includes Subject Matter Expert (SME) cover on an as required call out basis
  • Carry out root cause analysis following issues, and raise system process enhancements accordingly
  • Be available on pre-scheduled weekends to carry out Business Recovery system testing (usually 2-3 times per year.)
  • Provide automation ideas and help implement them encountered in regular work, to reduce BAU work
Work Experience / Knowledge
  • Minimum of 7 years proven experience in software development/ Production Support
  • Minimum of 7 years proven experience carrying out business process reviews and/ or production of business requirements
  • Experience analyzing business or technical problems and proposing and implementing solutions
  • Good understanding of and experience with people management, regulations, systems and procedures
  • Technology literate with good knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products
  • Knowledge of change management, process documentation and testing tools
  • Broad knowledge of systems and business processes in use for the relevant business areas
  • Understanding of relational database design and development life cycle principles
  • Desire to stay abreast of new development tools and methods
  • Broad knowledge of the systems and business processes in use for the Front-, Mid-, and Back-office functions within Investments
  • Understanding of Trade life cycle
  • Understanding of Investment processes
  • Understanding of Equity, Fixed Income and basic Derivative instruments used with the financial services
  • Experience with SQL Server 2012 or Oracle 12c+ Mandatory Experience with .Net 3.5+, Informatica 10.1 (or SSIS),Crystal Reports
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English is required

  • Provide recommendations on the technologies that need to be developed within the team
  • Mentor junior analysts on the tasks assigned to them
  • Advanced proficiency in application architecture and design
Formal Education : (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • A Bachelor s Degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred or commensurate relevant work experience
  • Formal business analysis training and/or qualification preferred (not applicable to Asia Pacific)
License/Registration/Certification : (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Formal project management training and/or qualification preferred. (PMP or equivalent)

Working Conditions
  • Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon the project or assignment
  • Hours may include evenings and/or weekends and may periodically include 24 hour a day on call support by pager and/or cell phone
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally. Frequency and duration to be determined by manager
