Job Description
Power and Renewables (P&R),Real Assets
P&R focuses on strategic opportunities with long term investment horizon across resource type, technologies, stage of development, geography and ownership patterns.
International
International department oversees CPP Investments’ investment activities outside Canada and is responsible for leading CPP Investments’ global expansion strategy. International initiates and develops investment opportunities across asset classes in the region, facilitates complex transactions, participates in Investment Department Decision committees, represents CPP Investments to local authorities and stakeholders and maintains overall responsibility for international office operations and regional teams.
Position Description
The Associate will be responsible for working across two diverse, yet integrated, business verticals for CPP Investments and will report to the Director of Business Management, International (India) and Senior Principal, Power & Renewables in support of CPP Investments’ growth strategy and business plan in the region, as well as evaluating and managing potential power & renewables investment opportunities.
Your ability to build global relationships, both internally and externally in a collaborative manner, is essential to ensure our positive employee brand and future success. The ability to adjust on a continual basis all while growing our global funds is paramount for success in this role.
This Includes, But Is Not Limited To

• Supporting the Head of Asia Pacific and Director with presentations, briefing memos, effective reporting, monitoring, financial analysis of the portfolio and reporting of investment activity
• Identifying, developing and managing relationships and strategic partnerships with key peers, advisors, family offices and strategic corporates
• Building pre screening investment thesis on companies of interest across investment departments
• Participating and contributing to special projects led by International e.g., strategy projects
• Analysing and evaluating a variety of power & renewables investment opportunities
• Building complex dynamic financial models to analyze investment opportunities (including testing assumptions and sensitivities),perform due diligence on opportunities and perform valuation analysis
• Assisting in preparation, attending and participating in Power & Renewables investment recommendation meetings
• Assisting with the overall execution on Investment
• Assisting in managing Power & Renewables portfolio companies including supporting CPP Board representatives and integrating with CPP monitoring processes
• Assisting with relationship management and business development activities for our various investment teams.
• Working alongside our Public Affairs and Communications team to advise and help execute corporate meetings, Regional Roundtables and off-site staff events as required
• Assisting in building and leveraging relationships with portfolio company management teams
  

Qualifications
Critical Experience:

• 3-4 years experience in investment banking or private equity with an emphasis in infrastructure investments/transactions is a plus
• Experience in conducting research, data analysis and financial modeling
• Ability to communicate structurally and effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
• Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Calendar) and ability to learn new applications.
• Strong interpersonal skills and business relationship skills
• Post Graduate degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or Accounting
