Essentials:
PhD in Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Modelling, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field with specialization in yield estimation methods with 1-3 years of experience post Ph.d.
Experience in using remote sensing (e.g. ENVI, ERDAS, SNAP, etc.) and Geographic Information Systems (e.g. ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS) software packages
Experience in the use of multi temporal and multi-spectral (optical, microwave data and Hyperspectral) satellite data
Use of remote sensing to detect and monitor crop stress to understand abiotic and biotic stresses
Publish research outcomes and project findings in international journals
Use remote sensing to understand crop physiology and/or management
Proficiency in written and spoken English as evidenced by research articles and project reports
Strong programming skills in R, Python, MATLAB, Google Earth Engine, etc.
Experience in field survey and ground data collection
Demonstration of innovation in estimation of crop acreage and yield, crop management
Desirable
Experience in data assimilation from different environmental sources
Experience in the use of crop modelling packages such as APSIM, DSSAT, CropSyst for yield estimation
Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis such as machine learning, artificial intelligence
Knowledge of agricultural systems relationships between climate, soil and management
Skills analytical and logical thinking abilities with strong initiative
