Position Title: Bookkeeper/Accountant
Job Summary: The bookkeeper/accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, ensuring accuracy, and facilitating financial transactions. This role involves tasks such as recording financial transactions, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial analysis. The bookkeeper/accountant plays a vital role in supporting the organization's financial health and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Record day-to-day financial transactions in accounting software.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Prepare and send invoices to clients/customers and follow up on overdue payments.
Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
Prepare financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accountant, or similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
