Chair Professor Job Opportunity in University of Allahabad

Title of the Chair: Rajiv Gandhi Chair 

Essential Qualification: An academic /scholar of outstanding track record in the designated areas of studies. Eminent scholars/writers in the designated areas of studies; Nuclear Disarmament & Peace, Social Justice and

Age: 55-70 years (Not exceeding 70 years of age)

Scale of Pay: Consolidated Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only) /per month . Other allowances/entitlements shall be governed as per UGC norms.

Mode of selection: Appointment to Chair shall be made on the recommendations of a Search Committee with the Vice - Chancellor as the Chairperson and the Registrar as the (non -member) Secretary, and not less than three eminent persons with special knowledge or professional experience in relevant filed, to be nominated by the Vice Chancellor from a panel of ordinarily not less than six names approved by the Executive Council .

Established on 23rd September 1887, it is the fourth oldest university of India after Calcutta, Bombay and Madras University. The credit for conceiving a large Central College at Allahabad, eventually to develop into a University, is due to Sir William Muir, then Lt. Governor of United Provinces. As a result of his initiative the foundation stone of the Muir Central College (named after him) was laid on Dec. 9 1873 by His Excellency Lord Northbrook.
