Description: Duties and Responsibilities
Job duties include the following: Other

- Acts as a key strategic leader and
member of the Senior Management reporting directly to the CEO.
- Works closely with CEO and Board
to manage and monitor Enterprise capital.
- Handles responsibility timely for
all accounting cycle testing, auditing, and compliance functions.
- Produces timely and consistently
monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports on Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles including consolidating entities and coordinating
annual audits.
- Prepares and files premium tax
returns and all statutory reporting.
- Prepares and works with outside
firm on quarterly and annual federal income tax filings.
- Handles responsibility for management
oversight of reinsurance accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Creates, support, and maintains
investment guidelines for the organization.
- Maintains a leadership role in
management of regulatory, rating agency, and Board of Directors reporting
and communication functions.
- Strategic direction of Accounting and Finance
functions
- Creating and enforcing accounting
and finance policies, procedures, and internal controls
Supervisory
Responsibilities
Manages Accounting Department. Is responsible
for the overall direction, coordination, training and evaluation of these
units.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing,
hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints
and resolving problems.
- Responsible for Statutory
reporting inclusive of understanding all applicable accounting policies
- Plan, develop, organise,
implement, direct and evaluate the organisation's fiscal function and
performance.
- Participate in the development of
the corporation's long-term plans and programs as a strategic partner.
- Ensure all functions and programs
under charge are performed within established budgetary parameters, to
include performing cost control activities, monitoring revenues and
expenditures, and ensuring sound fiscal control.
- Prepare critical fiscal
documentation regarding accounting activities (e.g., weekly, monthly and
annual reports, draft and revised codes and ordinances).
- Evaluate and advise on the impact
of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and
regulatory action.
- Develop credibility for the
finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets,
financial reports and financial trends to assist the CEO/President, the
Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement
and enforce policies and procedures of the organisation by way of systems
that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the
corporation.
- Establish credibility throughout
the organisation and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions
to business challenges.
- Provide technical financial advice
and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
- Continually improve the budgeting
process through education of department managers on financial issues
impacting department budgets.
- Provide strategic financial input
and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organisation;
- Optimise the investment portfolio
while maintaining compliance with investment policy and handle bank
relationships to enhance investment returns.
- Develop reliable cash flow
projections and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold
to meet operating needs.
- Review potential M&A
opportunities.
- Seek and work with investors for
capital infusion.
- Provides timely, accurate analysis
of budgets and financial reports to assist the CEO and other executives
with their responsibilities. Oversee completion of timely annual
audited financial statements.
- Manages budgeting and long term
financial planning process.
- Provides strategic financial input
and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the Company (i.e.,
growth, new markets, and evaluation of potential alliances, employee
benefits, retirement plans, and investments).
- Continually improves the
timeliness and accuracy of the Company’s cash flow and management of the
billing and collections process and month end, quarterly and year end
closings
- Ensures compliance with all tax
reporting requirements
- Coordinates with appropriate legal
counsel relating to financial and corporate governance compliance and risk
assessment matters.
