Chief Technology Officer Job Description

• We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business. You will communicate with employees, stakeholders and customers to ensure our company’s technologies are used appropriately.
• Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. We expect you to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts. If you are also an excellent communicator and public speaker, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

• Identify ways in which technology can help improve the company’s ability to service its customer and grow in scale
• Own and maintain the product roadmap taking into account short term and long term business objectives
• Manage and build a robust highly capable team to manage the development of new features and maintain the company’s technology assets
• Implement process and best practices to ensure continuous delivery of product innovation while being able to maintain a high degree of support for internal and external stakeholders
• Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
• Help departments use technology profitably
• Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
• Build quality assurance and data protection processes
• Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
• Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
• Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors
• Recruit, hire and maintain a team of top quality developers and engineers to support the product vision
• Be proactive in improving processes and delivery of technology services
• Regularly report to upper management on progress and suggest ways to improve the efficiency of the technology team

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CTO, CIO or similar leadership role preferably with a large consumer-facing internet service company
• Knowledge of technological trends to build a strategy
• Understanding of budgets and business-planning
• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research

• Problem-solving aptitude
• MSc/MA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
• Min. 3 years’ experience in developing enterprise scale cloud-based applications using modern web development languages
• Demonstrable experience in building web-based applications using the LAMP stack
• Experience with a MEAN stack is a bonus.
• Strong experience in building applications using MySQL, Ruby on Rails, HTML5, CSS3 and modern JavaScript frameworks
• Strong experience with DevOps processes and tools
• Min. 2 years’ experience in leading web and mobile app development team and overseeing the deployment of multiple projects.
