Department Description

Firmwide & CIB Data Quality is part of Firmwide Data Management. Our goal is to drive business value from better quality data, as data is at the heart of everything we do at JPMorgan Chase. Firmwide & CIB Data Quality's role is to drive the approach to data quality at the firm, by setting DQ standards and monitoring, providing central capabilities (process and tooling) and data expertise/consulting.

Background

The successful candidate will join a team focused on transformation of data quality management within the CIB and be responsible for supporting the strategy and execution of Chief Data Office's initiatives.

The role will require working with stakeholders across the CIB, looking to leverage best practice across the industry and other J.P. Morgan business units. Specific focus will be on driving execution of medium to large-scale data remediation projects across CIB lines of business (LoBs).

Key roles and responsibilities:

• Manage multiple Project deliveries for the Data Remediation Team within the DQ functions

• Must possess complete working knowledge of project management life cycle

• Learn new business functions, systems and possess ability to translate business requirement to feasible project executions

• Effectively manage a small to medium sized team of professionals in support of data remediation projects. Conduct regular performance discussions and manage appraisals as per J.P. Morgan defined processes

• Periodic reporting of project milestones through daily/weekly/monthly status reports

• Well versed with estimation techniques for project deadlines, time and motion study, resource utilization and monitoring

• Ensuring team adhere to bank's internal processes and Policies (configuration management, change control, access to data & systems, etc.)

• Actively seek and apply Process Improvements within the Data Remediation team and across projects.

• Exploring latest tools/technologies for process improvements, time and resource optimization

• Creating proof of concepts and performing feasibility checks for non-traditional projects

• Delivery management through internal entities (like business / technology teams) and vendors

• Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.

• Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.

• Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.

• Guiding the team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.

• Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.

• Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Degree level ( Preferably BE/B-Tech or MBA )
  • Formal training in Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus
  • 6+ years' experience (3+ years in managing large programs across domain / function)
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Experience of working on global initiatives/teams
  • Experience in Investment Banking recommended (e.g. markets, custody...)
• Should be able to handle Data Management/ Transformation / Remediation Projects

• Ability to handle mulitple projects simulataneously

• Very good knowledge in Confluence, SharePoint, JIRA.

• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

• Knowledge/experience of wide variety of well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).

• Ability to multi-task and effectively manage priorities for self while working in an frequently changing environment

• Critical thinking abilities to anticipate potential problems and preventing, minimizing, diagnosing and remedying delivery risks and issues

Skills Required

  • Hands-on Data experience (e.g. manipulating data sets in excel, processing data...)
  • Strong Data Analytical skills and quantitative aptitude
  • Prior experience of data modelling, relational databases, business intelligence tools(preferred)
• Excellent communication, presentation (both oral and written) & influencing skills at all levels

• Strong project documentation experience (Project Proposals, Project Management Plan, Standard Operating Procedures, Project Estimation, Resource Planning etc)

• Self starter, able to work autonomously, with strong time management skills; efficient at multi-tasking and able to work under pressure to deliver multiple business demands on-time, to a high standard

• Basic understanding of the company's business practices and familiarity with the company's products and services

• Strong practical experience of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc

• Strong communication skills and stakeholder management

• People and conflict management

• Experience in excel macros and Automation (Preferred)

• Experience updating Story Maps, Epics, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and Project Documentation.

• Strong familiarity and adherence to core Agile values and principles

• Exposure to modern engineering practices like Unit Test-Driven Development, Acceptance Test-Driven Development, and Continuous Integration

• Reasonable working knowledge of technology architectures and financial services business functions to the extent necessary to establish credibility with technology and business stakeholders
