Job Description

Computer Operator Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Use the production schedule to determine the order of operations
  • Use computer software to prepare the equipment for use
  • Load paper into printers and plotters for output
  • Know and perform the necessary commands to begin operations
  • Observe all equipment and troubleshoot any error messages, malfunctions or halts in production by entering commands
  • Maintain smooth operations and reload paper, making adjustments to the process as necessary and notifying a supervisor if additional resources are needed
  • Complete production logs in order to record problems and actions taken
  • Resolve user questions and requests
  • Take preventative care of equipment including testing and maintenance
  • Follow all manufacturer’s instructions and call for repairs if necessary
  • Maintain equipment and supply inventories by checking stock, anticipate supply needs, place and expedite equipment orders and confirm receipt of supplies
  • Evaluate any new equipment and techniques
  • Preserve client confidence, protect operations and keep information confidential
  • Perform any related tasks and achieve relevant results as needed
  • Contribute to overall team effort
