POSTING TITLE: Consultancy – Expert in Plant Biotechnology or Entomology (1 consultant)

The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks a proactive, responsible, and expert consultant in Plant biotechnology or entomology to advice and support the implementation of the project: “Varietal improvement of potato for biotic resistance, enriching of germplasm”.
This consultant will be based in Bangalore, Karnataka and will coordinate directly with the Project Investigator who leads this project.
Expected duration and conditions:
· This is a fixed-term consultancy contract.
· The payment is a fixed and consolidated fee.
Deliverables:
1. Survey for recording occurrence of viral diseases on potato (December 31, 2022)
2. Optimization of detection tools of indexing of plant viruses in potato (March 2023)
3. Validation of detection tools for field samples and ARC material (July 31, 2023)
Qualifications/special skills
· Masters/Ph.D. degree in Plant biotechnology, Entomology, or related fields.
· Two years of relevant research experience.
· Specialization: Molecular fingerprinting and characterization; plant tissue culture and bioinformatics.
· Good record of scientific and technical publications.
· Advanced written and oral communication skills in English and fluent in Kannada.
· Willingness to travel as needed.
