The Data Management team is responsible for various functions related to managing ISS’ master and reference data that comprises of data sets such as companies/funds and securities master, company financials, market data, corporate hierarchy, fund holdings and performance, fund portfolio attributes, fund flows, directors, Board committees, executive compensation and other corporate governance factors
We are currently seeking a
Sr. Associate – Content Specialist to join our
Data Management team in
Mumbai, India.
As a Sr. Associate, you will provide thought leadership on data sourcing, data methodology, integration approaches, data processing and logics, and data quality. You will influence many decisions we make about various aspects of our data pipeline. and will offer well-thought, well-researched solutions to data problems and needs. You will leverage deep knowledge of data, analytics and technology to derive insights, patterns and relationships from a large multi-vendor, multi-dimensional data warehouse. You will closely collaborate with talented colleagues in Product, Business, Data Management Operations, Data Quality Tech and Data Engineering teams globally, and with our third-party data providers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of different internal, primary and third-party data sources and providers, data product offerings, data models, content methodology, and data quality
- Define ISS’ own data methodology, pseudo data models, data processes, transformation logics, and reference and master data management policies
- Write requirements and logics for various data projects such as on-boarding and integrating new data sets, data enrichment, data distribution APIs, building cross-references, systematically detecting and addressing data quality issues etc.
- Define data quality standards/metrics and tests, determine apt test coverage and testing strategy for various data projects
- Test the data, verify implementation of logics, track data issues, identify root cause and patterns, and propose solutions
- Develop and maintain good knowledge of terms of the legal contracts with third-party data providers, actual data usage against those terms, and compliance risks. Propose risk mitigation strategies and drive projects to improve compliance with contractual obligations
- Periodically gather information on data needs of business units, advise on best sourcing strategy, and influence conversations with third-party data providers
- Identify opportunities for organization-wide data cost optimization and drive projects that realize the cost benefits
- Document and share knowledge about data, and educate users on data-related queries
- Effectively communicate and discuss project requirements with data providers, business and data engineering teams
Qualifications
- Bachelors in Engineering/Information Science/Statistics/Mathematics/Economics
- MBA Finance/CFA Level 2+/CIPM
- 5 to 8 years of experience in one or more of these areas within capital markets domain – data/content methodology, data solutioning, data analysis using various statistical methods, data management, data governance and quality
- Deep understanding of capital markets data such as financial statements, financial instruments, market prices, corporate actions, funds, corporate governance etc.
- Good knowledge of primary data sources such as company/fund website, company registry, government departments and agencies, regulators, exchanges and trade associations, and secondary sources such as FactSet, Refinitiv, Morningstar, S&P Capital IQ/Compustat, IHS Markit, Bloomberg, ICE/IDC or EDI
- Ability to write SQL queries for extraction and basic manipulation of data, and leverage other technologies such as advanced Excel, python or R for data analysis
- Proven track record of excellence in project management and ability to offer innovative solutions in the field of data management
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with global business and technical teams
- Self-starter and quick-learner
- Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment independently with little or no supervision
