Key Roles
1. Commis slices, grind and cooks meats and vegetables using a full range of cooking methods.
2. Works in the designated station as set by Head Chef or owner. 
3. Able to organize the assigned work area and efficiently able to prepare food within recommended time frames to meet the set requirements.
4. Able to operate kitchen equipment like Combi ovens, Hot plates and fryers etc. 
Able to produce a quality product in a timely and efficient manner.
5. The rest kitchen area, workstations, tables, tools, knives and other equipment in place.
6. Maintain correct portion size and quality of the food to the organization's standards.
7. Minimise waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost. 
8. Review status of work and follow-up actions required with the Head Cook before leaving. 
9. Assists in providing on the job training & development of new cooks. 
10. Assists other Team Members in the kitchen when needed or perform any other tasks assigned by the management, like to maintain cleanliness, sanitation at the assigned work area. 
11. Responsible for preparing and cooking all food items by the recipe and to specification. 
12. Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. 
13. Prepare all menu items by strictly following recipes and yield guide. 
14. Cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and food preparation checklist. 
15. Prepares, seasons, and cooks a wide variety of meats, vegetables, soups, curries, breakfast dishes and other food items. 
16. Wash and peel fresh fruits, vegetables and also able to weigh, measure and mix ingredients on correct proportions. 
17. Have general knowledge of cooking temperatures, making soups & sauces, preparing entrees, vegetable preparation and a la carte cooking. 
18. Set-up the station with par stocks of menu items, and prepare the dishes designated for that station. 
19. Checks supplies and prep lists and ensures all items are prepped in a timely fashion. Replenishes service lines as needed and restocks and prepares the workstation for the next shift. 
20. Ensures that all products are stored properly in the correct location at the appropriate levels at all times. 
21. Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods and report any incidents to the head chef or manager to ensure optimum service to customers. 
22. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food. 
23. Serve food in proper portions on to correct serving vessels and plates. 
24. Wash and disinfect the whole working station.
Prerequisites:
1. Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures. 
2. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with speed and quality. 
3. Great personal hygiene and grooming standards. 
4. Should be able to communicate, read and write clearly and effectively
We are looking for someone who is willing to travel to events and cook there. Someone who is alright with moving from place to place as it's a Moving food bus concept. ( every 6 months etc). 
We need a chef who will become a TEAM of Bigblackwheels. 
A backbone. Not just a cook but a meaningful member.
