Position Overview

The Data Application Engineer role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain on premise financial system applications in support of the development of data ingress tools for the Apptio product suite. The first systems we will be connecting to are: SAP ERP Central Component (ECC),Oracle E-Business, Oracle Hyperion, and Oracle PeopleSoft. The Data Application Engineer will setup environments for these applications and design, document, and modify Dell Boomi based Integration Packs (data pipelines). This role works closely with the data ingress technical teams in a collaborative environment to maximize opportunities to build features in both our product and our data pipelines to help our customers be successful with pulling data from these financial systems into Apptio.

Collaborates with clients, developers and other team members in the conceptualization and development of new or existing Dell Boomi integration packs. Assists in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with product management, customers, and developers.

Executes software testing on new and existing Dell Boomi integration packs for the purposes of correcting errors, general debugging, and improving the efficiency of the integration packs. Learns additional on-premise financial systems and becomes the local expert. Participates in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation. Provides higher level support for incoming incident tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues. Partners with other engineers in resolving problems with the financial system integrations.

Mandatory Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, Engineering, or area of functional responsibility preferred
5 to 7 years of development experience overall
At least 3+ years of development experience building data pipelines with Dell Boomi
Good scripting language skills with Python or others
Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to one or more of these systems: SAP, Oracle products, Workday, Peoplesoft, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Coupa or other Enterprise Software
Fluency in object-oriented programming and relational databases
Ability to convert business needs into technical requirements
Ability to identify, focus, and own, high priority tasks to manage delivery to project timelines
