We are currently seeking a Data Center Ops Specialist to join our team in Bangalore, Karnātaka (IN-KA),India (IN).
Must have at least 7 to 9 years years’ of experience
- Perform Health Checks and proactive configuration management like reviewing critical configuration settings on backup platforms, proactively responding to changes, periodically reviewing backup software logs and triage and take action when required
- Perform performance metrics review to identify and attempt to remediate utilisation issues
- Perform availability monitoring as part of incident resolution on data backup instances systems, including infrastructure availability (ping and heartbeat)
- Track inventory of in-scope infrastructure components (servers, tape libraries, storage arrays, etc.) and the status of each server which is being protected by data backups
- Resolving incidents relating to the backup clients and backup failures
- Submit and process CMDB inventory updates to reflect data backup infrastructure changes
- Support the software/hardware troubleshooting, fault isolation and repair processes, including vendor coordination for data backup infrastructure software and supported hardware based on client-purchased maintenance agreements from the OEM
- Verify backup infrastructure operability after maintenance activities
- Follow eir-defined backup policies and maintain procedure documentation
- Proactive system optimisation and maintenance as required
- Troubleshoot and report performance and space utilisation
- Support restoration activities from backup upon client request
- Maintain shares, backup targets on data backup supported hardware
- Manage admin level access to all in-scope data backup software and hardware instances
- Create and manage local accounts, including service accounts where applicable
- Unlock user IDs and reset passwords based on receiving authorised requests
- Implement and periodically audit authentication settings related to the data backup supported environment
- Coordinate application and OS updates to the supported environment regarding impact on backup policy with other NTT DATA teams
- Periodically review security logs and act upon any issues found. Maintain system security logging and associated configuration to capture all relevant information
- Manage, monitor and troubleshoot data backup configurations
- Manage and provide available data backup log/error checking for the supported software and/or databases
- Assist support teams to troubleshoot data backup agent’s functionality and performance issues and to provide configuration management support
- Perform restoration of data and objects
- Verify if supported hardware appliance (tape library or data backup appliance) systems firmware versions are at hardware vendor recommended levels
- Maintain vendor supported firmware level
- Applying system patches as appropriate in line with the agreed patch management process
- Backup client inclusion/exclusion as requested by client
- Liaise with 3rd-party suppliers and vendors where required as part of incident resolution
- Use reasonable endeavours to support the backup software / tool where at a level not supported by the OEM
- Troubleshoot performance issues using client-provided toolset
- Perform relevant remediation actions on storage environment raised as a result of disaster recovery exercise or vulnerability assessment
- Participate as resolver party in Priority One resolution process (owned and managed by client’s service management team)
- Provide a managed backup reporting service that provides centralised daily reporting.
