Roles and Responsibilities :

Installs configures and upgrades databases mainly in MySQL but should be comfortable scaling up to other solutions Creates ways to store organize and present data Ensures all databases and logs are regularly backed Test database restoration per audit policy Configures maintenance plans to ensure the health of database servers and data warehouse environment Monitors the performance of databases and triages performance issues to determine the most effective way to increase performance hardware purchases server configuration changes or index query changes Troubleshoots any service outages in a timely manner Documents the companys database environmentQualification Experience Bachelor of Engineering preferably in Computer Science or related fields Experience with RDBMS systems like MySQL SQlServer Access etc Experience with Stored Procedures and User Defined function Experience with Unix administration and Windows Experience with AWS is a big plus Experience with database reporting tools such as MS Excel Sharepoint etc Exposure to data warehouse and OLAP applications such as MS Analysis Services preferred Working knowledge of ETL tools such as MS SSIS Ability to write batch file and FTP scripts to send and retrieve data to and from external sites
