Database Specialist

Kochi/ Thiruvananthapuram

Requirements:

Strong experience with relational databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or Postgres (various versions) and solid understanding of database tools and applications; to include Transact-SQL, Structured Query Language (SQL),views, stored procedures, functions and triggers.
Troubleshoot problems that may come up with database environments: performance issues, replication issues or operational issues
Experience in DB integrations with APIs/web services
Entity Relationship Diagramming skills
Working knowledge with UNIX/Linux, Windows environments
Desirable to have experience with database Administration, Upgrades, Patches and Migrations in an OLTP/OLAP production environment
Scripting Languages (shell, batch, PERL)
Exposure to ETL concepts and tools like SSIS, Pentaho etc.
Experience with data replication, synchronization, and data provisioning
Experience in one or more NoSQL databases
Understanding of CI/CD pipeline
Experience and ability to work in a team based Agile environment
Educate staff members through training and individual support.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as needed

Duties and responsibilities:

Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, reliability, recovery and backup
Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming.
Identify, evaluate and recommend infrastructure or software technologies to achieve desired database design and performance.
Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity and documenting problems, changes and solutions.
Conduct reviews of software development design to reinforce consistent practices, identify defects and inefficiencies, and ensure development follows established architectural guidance

Qualifications/Experience:

Engineering Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education technical certifications and work experience.
