The National School of Drama, invites applications for admission to its three year diploma course (full time-residential) in Dramatic Arts.

The course starts from 5 August, 2019 and aims at training students to become professionals in the area of acting, design, direction and other theatre related disciplines.

Medium of instruction : Hindi / English

Essential Qualifications :1) Graduation in any subject from a recognized University in India or Abroad.

2) Participation in at least 6 theatre productions. 3) Working knowledge of Hindi / English.

Desirable: 1) 3 recommendations from theatre Experts, 2) Documentary proof of the theatre experience

Age Limit as on 1.7.2019 :Minimum 18 years Maximum 30years

RESERVATION FOR SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/ PwD: Out of 26 seats, 4 seats ore reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes; 2 seats are reserved for scheduled tribes; 7 seats are reserved for OBC (Non Creamy Layer as notified by the Government) and reservation for PwD, as per Govt. of India rules.

Selection: The selection is a two phose process. The candidate should appear for a preliminary examination and if selected then has to appear for a final workshop.

A preliminary test/audition will be conducted at twelve centers i.e.

Delhi: 6th to 11thMay, 2019

Jaipur: 13th & 14th May, 2019

Lucknow: 16th & 17th May, 2019

Bhopal : 20th to 22nd May, 2019

Chandigarh: 24th & 25th May, 2019

Mumbai : 28th to 31st May, 2019

Chennai: 3rd June, 2019

Bengaluru : 6th June, 2019

Patna: 8th & 9th June, 2019

Guwahati : 11th June, 2019

Bhuwaneshwar : 13th June, 2019

Kolkata : 15th & 16th June, 2019

The candidates qualifying in this test will have to attend a workshop of 5 days in the School premises, New Delhi from 1st to 5th July, 2019.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE : All selected students will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 8000/- p.m. to meet their academic and related expenses.

PHYSICAL FITNESS : The students selected for admission will be required to undergo a medical test for physical fitness at NSD Delhi. Their final selection is subject to clearance of the fitness test.

The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by the Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959. In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
