Position: Economic Officer

Pay Scale: Level- 07 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC.

Qualification: Master’s Degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics of a recognized University, incorporated by an act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grant Commission Act, 1956 or a foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.

Experience: Two years’ experience of conducting economic investigation or research from recognized Research Institutes in India, University or Deemed University and Central or State Government.

Duties: Preparation of analytical notes/ memoranda with the application of advanced statistical/ econometric methods, without assistance from lower level, on the various aspects relating to industry, agriculture, public finance and foreign trade and balance of payments, developments and policies of Indian/ International economy with a view to assisting senior officers in evolving guidelines/ economic policies.

Age Limit: 30 years.

Application Fees: Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25. No fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates of any community. No 'fee exemption' is available to Gen/OBC/EWS male candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstance nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.

The Royal Commission on the Superior Civil Services in India under the Chairmanship of Lord Lee, which submitted its Report in 1924, recommended the setting up of the Public Service Commission. This led to the establishment of the first Public Service Commission on 1 October 1926 under the Chairmanship of Sir Ross Barker.
