The Power Distribution Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution systems. This role ensures safe, reliable delivery of electricity across substations, feeders, transformers, switchgear, and associated equipment while complying with safety and regulatory standards.
Install, inspect, operate, and maintain power distribution equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, panels, and cables
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on distribution systems (LV/MV/HV as applicable)
Diagnose electrical faults, troubleshoot outages, and restore power safely and efficiently
Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals
Conduct testing (insulation resistance, continuity, grounding, relay testing, etc.)
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company procedures
Respond to emergency breakdowns and participate in on-call or shift rotations
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and work documentation
Coordinate with engineers, control room operators, and contractors during installations or outages
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and all safety protocols at all times
Diploma / ITI / Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Proven experience in power distribution, substations, or utility operations
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, protection devices, and safety practices
Ability to use electrical testing tools and diagnostic equipment
Familiarity with standards such as IEC, IEEE, NEC, or local electrical codes
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Physically fit and comfortable working in field environments
Willingness to work shifts, nights, weekends, or emergency call-outs
