Job Summary

The candidate will implement IT solutions and services with a focus on SQL
database infrastructure and other components in a Microsoft Azure cloud
environment for Willis Re Technology Team. This position is responsible for day
to day build of SQL infrastructure on Azure, based on overall system design
for Azure solutions of the organization. Also provide support for the resolution of problems
associated with cloud-based solutions.

Primary Responsibilities In This Role Will Be

• Provide system administration
  

for SQL Server Databases hosted on Azure.

• Provide operational
  

support and problem resolution for a large complex cloud computing environment

• Configure, implement and support an automated workflow
  

for cloud environment provisioning

• Development of automated solutions to monitor and
  

support our software development and release processes.

• Troubleshoot virtual hardware and software problems and
  

take appropriate corrective action and/or interact with IT staff or vendors
in performing complex testing, support, server recovery, and troubleshooting
functions.

Principal
Duties/Responsibilities

Design and
Build 60%

• Develop, implement, and
  

maintain IaaS Infrastructure as a Service in a cloud environment with
focus on SQL Server.

Define, refine and audit
processes and policies for SQL Server BackUp, Access Management, Data
Replication and Disaster Recovery.

Responsible for creation
and enforcement of cloud architecture standards for SQL in a cloud
environment

• Develop a library of deployable
  

and documented cloud design scripts, processes, and procedures

Utilize configuration and
deployment tools for automation in a cloud environment

Develop a library of deployable
and documented cloud design scripts, processes, and procedures

Perform cloud
computing environment build-outs, site setup, user training, hardware/software installation, maintenance
and support and documentation of operating procedures and processes.

• Implement and utilize automation to perform system
  

administration including changes, deletes, disk space management, application
installation, and backups for cloud systems.

• Develop and maintain scripts for automated builds of development,
  

testing, production, and DR environments

• Stay in tune with new technologies.
• Provide technical expertise to other team members
  

Support duties

• Troubleshoot virtual hardware and software problems,
  

and take appropriate corrective action and/or interact with IT staff or vendors in performing complex
testing, support, server recovery, and troubleshooting functions.

• Provides technical
  

support to resolve issues related to Operating System, Networking or Database
in Azure environment.

• Identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors
  

affecting cloud network performance.

Essential

Experience / Requirements

• In depth system
  

administration experience and knowledge for SQL Server Databases, including database
configuration, backups and access management.

• 4+ years’ experience in SQL Server
  

Database installation, operations, administration, and maintenance,
preferably all or some in Azure environment

• 2+ years’ experience working with cloud technologies; Azure experience highly desired

• Understanding of overall
  

infrastructures solution including networking, servers, Active Directory etc
and willingness to contribute in all areas of infrastructure.

• General working knowledge of NAS,
  

SAN, operating system administration

• In depth knowledge and corporate
  

hands-on experience with configuration
and implementation of IaaS / infrastructure as code on Azure cloud.

• Understanding and working knowledge of Azure PaaS SQL database
  

offering.

• Good consultative, communication, analytical, and judgment skills.
• Ability to communicate well and perform as part of a team located in
  

multiple time zones / cultures.

Desirable

• Understanding of Insurance/Reinsurance
• Microsoft certification with Azure.
• Working knowledge of DevOps development activities and
  

complex development tasks, including container management systems

• Experience scripting in languages such as Python, JSON,shell scripting, PowerShell, and PowerCLI..
