We’re seeking a top-notch JavaScript developer to join our Bazaarvoice Small Web-Apps Technology team (or SWAT) located in Bengaluru, India. This team is focused on building the next generation of consumer-facing displays that serve billions of page views a month on sites that you’ve most certainly heard of. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill client-side app: you’ll be called upon to develop features that will serve Fortune 500 companies and boutique brands; to work with a full JavaScript stack, front to back; to write code that can withstand the assaults common to third-party applications; and to do it all in an environment where an extra 100ms can have a measurable impact on the bottom line. What We Need
This is a front-end role, so standard rules apply: JavaScript, HTML, CSS. However, we’re looking for more than satisfying a list of buzzwords - we’re looking for someone that lives and breathes web applications. This is a Developer level role, so you have 2 to 4 years of professional software development experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for innovating over, building out, and maintaining front-end applications that our clients rely on to display to all of their shoppers. From a rendering engine that can build custom displays on the fly to a platform that can build and deliver evergreen applications for thousands of clients, you’ll be continuously working to improve the Bazaarvoice customer display experience from cutting-edge pilot programs to highly scalable and generally available applications.
Who You Are
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals especially data structures and algorithms
- Experience with JavaScript, CSS, and React or similar front-end frameworks, Redux or similar, Emotion CSS, Jenkins, and Webpack
- You know how to test an application, as well as how to write an application that is testable
- You can articulate why you like or dislike React compared to other frameworks
- You can speak to, and demonstrate, the power of newer CSS capabilities like grid and flexbox
- A browser’s devtools are as much in your tool belt as your text editor is
- You know how to test an application, as well as how to write an application that is testable
- You’re excited about your craft and stay connected to how web-development is evolving
- You’ve deployed web sites and applications to AWS or similar cloud platform
- You have considered and articulate opinions (preferably based on experience) about the challenges of front-end development in an “enterprise” setting
- You like speaking in public about what you’re working on
- You have BS in computer science or equivalent field experience
