Job Description

Duties And Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to communications and advocacy outreach activities:
  • Provide logistical support to communications and advocacy efforts and campaigns, e.g. by supporting the organisation of roundtable discussions, press conferences, and other publicity events and providing inputs to briefing materials and press releases, as necessary.
Provide administrative support to the development of the UN Women communications and advocacy materials:
  • Draft press releases, articles, key messages, and other advocacy materials;
  • Review translations, contact with printers and other suppliers to ensure production;
  • Maintain library/ database of reference materials and photos;
  • Follow guidelines from RO/HQ.
Provide support in the management of the UN Women India MCO social media presence and website:
  • Gather information for the development of content for the India website and social media channels;
  • Update the website and social media channels, as required;
  • Maintain files, databases, and systems relevant to the UN Women India digital presence;
  • Track and monitor social media and report relevant information to UN Women staff;
  • Research, compile and produce reports on web statistics on a regular basis and electronic surveys;
  • Design and create social media content (infographics, videos, GIFs, social media cards etc.).
Provide media relations support to the UN Women India MCO:
  • Maintain and update database of relevant press in country;
  • Respond to requests for information, as delegated;
  • Gather and compile inputs for talking points.
Facilitate Knowledge Management And Sharing
  • Contribute to the identification of best practices and lessons learned;
  • Organize trainings and workshops on communication practices;
  • Support regular meetings of regional communications focal points;
  • Provide/ exchange information with HQ and RO, MCO, and COs.
Other Tasks
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor;
  • Provide support on special web/digital/media projects undertaken by the UN Women India MCO.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Timely inputs to communication and advocacy materials;
  • Timely organization of logistical support to discussions, conferences, briefings, and other events;
  • Timely delivery quality administrative support;
  • Webpages are well-maintained.
Deliverables
  • Provision of efficient communications related support in planning, preparing, and implementing support to communications and advocacy events/plan of WEA Programme (Timeline – Continuous every month until the end of assignment)
  • Support in designing and liaising social media content for WEP Signatory Companies (Timeline-at least 6 per week during August-December 2020)
  • Develop effective communications materials such as press releases, social media posts and human impact/news stories for UN Women/WEA (Timeline – at least 1 Newsletter every month)
  • Produce monthly reports with social media data points on implementation of the communications activities of WEA Programme for submission to Regional Office. This report shall also tackle issues faced during implementation of the assignment and recommend follow-up actions (Timeline-Every month)
  • Submission of a Final Report on Communications & Advocacy (End of December 2020)
Payment Schedule

Payments will be made upon submission and approval of monthly deliverables as mentioned above, and certification by the UN Women Supervisor that the services have been satisfactorily completed. The amount will depend on the abovementioned deliverables and supporting documents (timesheets, reports, participant lists, etc.) completed by the consultant and accepted/approved by the UN Women Supervisor. At the end of every calendar month on submission of required certified documents.

Education

Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Relations, Journalism or any other related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications or advocacy.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, good knowledge and experience in handling of web-based management systems.
  • Knowledge of gender and human rights issues desirable.
Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of official national language essential.
