  • Typically the General Sales Manager is responsible for the Sales operation of a car dealership. 
  • This person is the driving force behind the sales department. 
  • They handle the day to day operations of the sales department. 
  • The take the lead in training the sales , and finance department. 
  • Customer issues good and bad, factory relationships, used car department, communicates directly with the Service and Parts departments to assure all after sale products and being installed.
  • Careful sourcing and management of used stock.
  • Direct reporting to the manufacturer.
  • Drive the performance of the department to ensure that the budgeted expectations are met.
  • Integral to the role will be the requirement to ensure that the incredibly high levels of customer service are maintained.
  • Meets with the sales managers (new and previously used cars),to establish monthly and yearly objectives for the numbers of units to be sold, gross profit, expenses and operating profit.
  • Creates programs aimed at increasing gross turnover and penetration of after sales marketing (financing and insurance).
  • Analyzes the various customer satisfaction reports and submits recommendations to ensure customer retention and loyalty.
