Job Description

Job Description Summary 
The Global Commodity Specialist (GCS) will be responsible for developing and implementing the commercial strategy with suppliers of sourced electrical equipment, complementing GE inverters in Solar and Storage Power Conversion Stations (transformers, RMUs, switchgear, substation equipment). GCS will report directly to the Strategic Sourcing Leader and will work closely with the GCLs (Global Commodity Leader) and factory & project fulfillment teams. GCS will support supplier management to reduce costs, while continuing to meet delivery and quality requirements. 
Job Description 
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Identifies and, in conjunction with the appropriate cross-functional owners, fully develops competitive suppliers to complete product(s) qualification. India market as a key initial focus.
  • Contributes to setting global strategy for sourced electrical equipment assigned to GCS. Develop and manage global supply base and align regions and supporting functions
  • Drives supply base management and development to reduce single and sole sources and improve global supply chain competitiveness.
  • Develops technical and market expertise in commodity areas; brings suppliers’ expertise to business fruition for continuous optimization of GE solutions.
  • Co-leads cross functional teams and develops strong relationships with manufacturing, engineering, and product line to partner in driving key sourcing and business objectives
  • Supports cross-functional cost out programs, via supplier negotiations and supplier-driven productivity initiatives, to achieve annual product and projects cost goals
  • Focuses on fulfillment risks and drives mitigation strategies to reduce lead time, support lean, and meet capacity with suppliers
  • Supports NPI development and introduction with suppliers. Drives timelines and supports design to cost initiatives
  • Pursues and promotes collaboration across and beyond GE Renewable Energy, to maximize leverage in negotiations and expand business impact
  • Optimizes cash opportunities within supply base
  • Executes other sourcing responsibilities, as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
  • Minimum 4 years of sourcing or global supply chain experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required, estimated at 20%
Desired Characteristics
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering background preferred
  • Familiarity with MV Transformers and electrical equipment
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, contracting expertise, and business law knowledge
  • Ability to perform scenario analysis and strategy development & implementation
  • High motivation, leadership, and influencing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Proactive self-starter and change agent
  • Cross functional, matrixed, and international team experience
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Effectively communicate across all organizational levels, departments, and functions
  • Have proven project management and process improvement skills
  • Aptitude with analytical tools (ex. Excel, Access); specific skills should include: data-mining, pivot tables, data manipulation
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and business acumen
