Job Description

Helper  recruitment in Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW)

Qualification in Details: 1. Options are invited from the eligible serving 'Helper' of Electrical Department/ Mechanical Department / Store department to fill up the 04 Nos. (UR-02, SC- 02, ST-OO) posts of Tech. Gr. Ill/Crane Driver under the Electrical Department in Level -02 of 7th CPC pay matrix.

2. The option is invited from the staff of Elect. Deptt., Mechanical Deptt. and Stores Deptt. towards the said 04 Nos. posts but, the ISt priority will be given to the Helpers of Electrical Department. If the said number of posts shall remain vacant then the Helpers of others Department viz- Mech. Department & Stores Department shall be considered.

Eligibility: Minimum 02 years' service as Group —'D'/ Erstwhile Group —'D'. Education Qualification — No bar.

Age:  No bar

The planners of the Nation with their deep insight and foresight set out to build a Loco building Factory in West Bengal and CLW is the culmination of that vision. In the late thirties, a committee consisting of M/s. Humphries and Shrinivasan was appointed to investigate the possibility of establishing a locomotive manufacturing unit and to consider its economic viability. The initial project, at Chandmari, a place near Kanchrapara, in the state of West Bengal, could not mature due to partition, which inevitably necessitated a change of site.
