In delivering high-value analytical models, data preparation and data integration comprises over 80% of the overall effort. Therefore, to ensure continuous delivery of new insights and intelligence, dedicated focus on data management and data integration is crucial.
As a Senior Associate Data Engineer/ETL Developer on the Enterprise Data Asset Management team, you will be a member of a global production support team. While working within the established standards and processes you will have the opportunity to find and remediate data issues, coordinate with transactional system support teams to remediate upstream data entry errors, partner with customers around the globe to prioritize enhancement requests, and proactively look for opportunities to improve the health and stability of your assigned data assets. You will also be responsible for developing and scheduling recurring data transformation jobs and flows. You will also be responsible for monitoring the health of assigned data assets in all environments as part of a follow-the-sun support model and remediating issues with mission critical job flows.
The Enterprise Data Asset Management team utilizes the latest SAS products and interacts with internal SAS organizations to provide analysis ready data, empowering data-driven decisions. Team members are engaged in advanced data initiatives across SAS, serving business partners in Sales, Finance, IT, Education, Marketing, and Consulting. As a member of this team you would have the opportunity to assist with enterprise data management and data preparation components in an Agile delivery model.
Essential
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems or related quantitative field.
- Five to eight years of practical experience in a data integration environment, utilizing SQL programming languages related to area of assignment.
- Practical experience loading, modifying, and processing data in an Oracle database, with a preference to Exadata.
- PL/SQL programming language using Oracle specific functions and procedures.
- Background knowledge and best practices of data warehousing fundamentals, ETL, and dimensional modeling techniques.
- Experience working in an Agile delivery environment.
- Proactive, able to manage work independently and effectively prioritize work, self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to formulate and communicate ideas, technical concepts, and best practices to individuals with various levels of technical expertise.
- Experience working with team members, management, and customers in diverse geographical locations.
- Strong collaborative mindset. Able to communicate planned work with leads and IT resources to calibrate deliverables and timing.
- Strong customer service mindset. Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical business partners to clarify requirements, drive to a resolution, and build relationships.
- Excellent troubleshooting and issue resolution skills.
Preferred
- Oracle query tuning and optimization including specific experience troubleshooting performance issues within Exadata.
- Experience serving on a follow-the-sun support team.
- Experience working in sprints with Jira.
- Experience with LSF.
- Experience data modeling to support reporting in Sales, Finance, IT, Education, Marketing, and Consulting.
- Understanding of SAS products, data structures and programming technologies.
- Experience with SAS Data Management, including SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Management Console.
- SAS Certified professional.
