Learning Specialist Is Expected To
- Act as project manager
- Track project status (i.e., enter data in Excel/SharePoint tracker, ask for unknown status updates from internal clients and external vendors, etc.)
- Communicate with internal requestors (e.g., send reminders, check-in emails, etc.)
- Communicate to external designers and developers on project requirements or tasks
- Manage projects including status of timeline and budget
- May quality check deliverables against General Mills standards
- Act as technical developer
- Develop and edit eLearning modules (Articulate Storyline and Captivate) and other learning solutions (Animated videos using Vyond, interactive PDFs, demos, etc.).
- Provide technical expertise, support, and troubleshooting for learning solutions
- Manage archiving of learning solutions
Receives project direction from Learning Services. Works in close collaboration with Instructional Designers assigned to projects. Works with vendor partners on technical and archiving issues. Works with internal requestors on development and technical issues.
40% of Time: Manage Projects
- Track project status and highlight risks/roadblocks (i.e., enter data in Excel/SharePoint tracker, ask for unknown status updates, from internal clients and external vendors, etc.)
- Effectively communicate with requestors (e.g., send reminders, check-in emails, etc.),demonstrating high level of customer service
- Effectively communicate to external designers and developers on project requirements or tasks
- Effectively communicate to vendors as needed (i.e., project status update, archiving follow-up),building a mutually beneficial partnership with vendors
- Manage projects including status of timeline and budget
- May quality check deliverables against General Mills standards
55% of Time: Develop, Maintain, and Update Learning Solutions:
- Create estimates/quotes for development work
- Develop and edit eLearning modules (Articulate Storyline and Captivate) and other learning solutions (Animated videos using Vyond, interactive PDFs, demos, etc.). May include development of new modules and other learning solutions. Often includes maintenance of existing modules and other learning solutions (including fixes, troubleshooting, testing, and Flash conversion).

- Test learning solutions (multi-device, multi-browser, etc.)
- Provide technical expertise, support, and troubleshooting for learning solutions
- Ensure timelines are met as per the estimated project completion
- Manage archiving including archiving project files, identifying missing files, and searching archives

- Able to identify technical aspects of a course (i.e., Identify custom Flash framework v. Flash only v. HMTL5)
- Experience developing creative/innovative solutions, including the creation of reusable objects
- Graphic design experience
- Learning Management System (LMS) usage/management
