Library/Information Assistant Job Opportunity In Zoological Survey of India
Eligibility: Officers under the Central or State Govts or Union territories or Universities or recognized Research Institutes or Public Sector Undertakings or Semi-Government or Statutory or Autonomous Organisations:-
a) Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or department;
b) Possessing the educational qualification and experience prescribed for direct recruits.
Educational Qualification for Direct Recruitment :
Essential:
i. Bachelor Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science of a recognized University or Institute and
ii. two years Professional experience in a Library under the Central or State Government or Autonomous or Statutory Organisation or Public Sector Undertaking or University or Recognised Research or Educational Institution.
Desirable: Diploma in Computer Application from a recognised University of Institute.
Age-limit: The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation (ISTC) shall not be exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
Number of post to be filled up through Deputation (Including Short Term Contract): 10 Post(TEN)
Level in the Pay Matrix: Level — 6.
Classification of the post: General Central Service, Group 'B', Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.

2. North Eastern Regional Centre, ZSI, Shillong (01 Post).
3. Northern Regional Centre, ZSI, Dehradun (02 Post).
4. Deserrt Regional Centre, ZSI, Jodhpur (01 Post).
5. High Altitude Regional Centre, ZSI, Solan (01 Post).
Period of Deputation: Period of deputation (ISTC) including period of deputation (ISTC) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other Organisation or Department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not to exceed three years.
Duties and Responsibilities attached to the post:
1. Care and maintenance of Library holdings.
2. Maintenance of records of Library holdings.
3. Arranging fumigation of Library holdings.
4. Stationery and stores.
5. Attending to enquiries.
6. Procurement and Migration, Classification and Accession, Issue and Maintenance of books and journals.
7. Placing back the books and journals on shelves.
8. Maintenance of records of books issued.
9. Display of recent books and journals.
10. Circulation of procurement lists.
11. Cataloguing of books and journals.
12. Preparation of book lists.
13. Any other works assigned.
