Job Description

As a Machine Performance Engineer of the Underground Mining s Longwall Mining (LWM) engineering organization, you will have the technical leadership responsibility for overall Shearer Machine Performance of current and future models. This position supports both NPI programs as well as current production CPI initiatives. You will collaborate with multiple areas of engineering, operations, product support and dealers around the globe. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology.

Job Duties/Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Creation of technical machine specifications.
• Definition and integration of technical systems to meet machine performance requirements.
• Communication of technical machine specifications to the design areas.
• Coordination of field trials.
• Conducts technical evaluations of major systems on competitive products and carrying out technical competition analyses.
• Evaluation of simulation and test results to prepare basic design decisions.
• Continuous expansion of expertise in the areas of cutting technology, drive train and cooling systems.
• Collaborating with global Engineering, operations, product support and dealers to validate product performances.
• Travels to foreign and domestic plants, dealerships and customer job sites to solve design problems or to field-test locations to evaluate a product improvement.
• Providing a supportive work environment for the team
• Planning and managing programs

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s or Master s degree in an accredited Mechanical or Mining Engineering curriculum.
• Experience in the areas of design, calculation and testing of machines and / or subsystems.
• Basic understanding of mining machines requirements such as productivity, availability and reliability.
• Knowledge of calculation programs such as Matlab, Dynasty, DATK and Excel.
• Knowledge of Mining Products including their application, structure and historical development.
• 8-12 years of relevant work experience in Heavy Machinery or Mining Products.
• Longwall Coal Mining Product experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Problem resolution / trouble shooting.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Keen in learning and enhancing technical skills for future divisional need.
• Proficiency in Creo PLM tools.
