Avala Hejje (meaning 'her steps' in Kannada) is a social enterprise that believes that when women step forward, society takes a leap. Young women have time and again proved to be as smart, as hardworking, and as ambitious as men, yet they have often fallen behind. Why? Because they face greater barriers than men. Avala Hejje's unique campus workshop, 'Dare to Explore...It's Your World!' equips young women with practical and proven tools to recognize these barriers and find keys to achieve their full potential and fulfill their dreams. We extensively use role-plays, films, group discussions, hands-on exercises, games, and other techniques to enable young women to identify the biases, stereotypes, and barriers that hold them back, to practice techniques to overcome the obstacles, to hone creative thinking skills, to learn from the experiences of successful women and to become confident go-getters throughout their journey.
