We are having an opening for one of the leading Chartered Accountants firm : GJM & Co. Chartered Accountants (www.gjmco.in),at Prahladnagar Ahmedabad,Gujarat.

Designation: Senior Executive (Medical Billing)

Qualifications: B.Com/M.Com/BBA/MBA/or equivalent degree in Accounting)

Work Experience: 3+ year

Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 6.30 pm IST to 3.30 am IST (US EST Zone) 

Broad requirement: The position is a critical one for handling the financial cycle of all health care providers, from single-provider practices through large medical centres. Medical billing requires attention to detail and experience with the electronic and paper systems used in billing healthcare services.

Detailed Job Description:

1.      Obtaining referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures.

2.      Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.

3.      Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.

4.      Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software.

5.      Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.

6.      Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.

7.      Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary

8.      Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.

9.      Reviewing accounts for insurance of patient follow-up.

10.  Researching and appealing denied claims.

11.  Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.

12.  Updating billing software with rate changes.

13.  Updating cash spreadsheets, and running collection reports.

Skill set required:

1.      Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.

2.      Competent with use of billing software. E.g. Veracity Allegiance MD/Veracity9

3.      Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding.

4.      Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers

5.      Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communicating with patients and family members.

6.      Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to triage priorities, delegate tasks if needed, and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion.

7.      Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections.

8.      Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.

9.      Knowledge of medical terminology likely to be encountered in medical claims.
