Overview

The Network Engineer role includes establishing, developing, and maintaining computer networks between organizations. They need to provide support to all users, including team members and clients and fix any issues that occur. They may also have to design new networks.

Engineers provide support for system installation and define, document, and put into effect system standards. They secure network systems by setting up and applying policies, and define and oversees access.

Responsibilities

They need to maintain and control computer networks and related computing environments together with structures software, programs software, hardware, and configurations.
They need to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and other network and system problems.
Have to layout the design and implementation of new solutions and improve the resilience of the modern surroundings.
Must perform disaster recovery operations and record backups when required.
They need to monitor overall network performance to decide if changes want to be made.
Must carry out the configuration of routing and switching equipment.
Participate in on-call rotation with existing team, which includes after-hours support.
Manage projects related to network objectives.
Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
Coordinating computer network access and use.
Designing, configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software.
Resolve L1 and L2 support issues.

Qualifications

5+ Years as a Network Engineer
Advanced knowledge and experience with Network concepts and technologies
5+ years advanced knowledge with Cisco Routers and Switches
5+ Years working knowledge of Cisco Core Nexus Switches
5+ Years advanced knowledge with Cisco Firewalls, IPS, and security solutions
5+ Years advanced knowledge with Load Balancer Technologies (Citrix Netscaler preferred)
Advanced knowledge of Solar Winds or other tool/sets for Management and Monitoring of Network resources
5+ years working knowledge of basic computer cabling (parallel, serial, Ethernet, voice, etc.).
5+ years working knowledge of Ethernet networking (TCP/IP, DNS, switching) and a minimum of 5+ year experience with routing and internet technologies
5+ years working experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems with vendor support staff
At least 5 years hands-on working knowledge of Microsoft Windows server operating systems and a minimum of 3 years working with Server 2012
At least 5 years hands-on working knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems
Strong user skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
Strong English written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work after hours (system upgrades, troubleshooting, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science
Network\CISCO certfications, a plus
