Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Cloud Networking Tribe is looking for a talented, innovative and enthusiastic Software engineering professional that will build the next generation IAAS to make our customers succeed. The IBM Cloud Networking Tribe has a global cloud presence that continues to grow and expand its reach. Our Network Services engineering team is responsible for delivering virtual network services with top-notch performance, first-rate security, fail-safe reliability and exceptional quality.

An IBM Cloud Networking Software Development engineer will be the key individual responsible for end to end feature enablement across the orchestration layer. You will perform hands-on coding and mentor junior developers, working to increase the knowledge and performance of the collective team. In addition, you will interface with senior architects across several locations to ensure that the overall strategy is communicated and understood.

We are a global team, so communication skills (both verbal and written) are critical as well as flexibility to work with team members in other time zones.

What you will do:

• Ensure availability, SLA of IBM Cloud Service Endpoint (CSE)
• Operational duties for full life cycle of CSE, launch, upgrades
• Enhance the automation for operations, including making the deployment and upgrade process more robust along with developing self-healing capabilities.
• Instrument monitoring and alerts, notifications
• Capacity planning
• Perform operational tasks to ensure Security and Compliance (ISO, SOC, HIPPA, etc)
• Periodic on-call shifts to handle urgent operational issues will be required
• Provide support for production escalations and problem resolution for customers.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Requires 5-8 years of experience in the following area
  
  - Linux Sysadmin
  - Configuration management software such as Ansible
  - Scripting knowledge: Perl, Shell, Linux troubleshooting.
  - Docker, Kubernetes deployment and configuration skills.
  - Working with Git, Jenkins and Enterprise Cloud in general.
  - Troubleshooting skills to understand Go code/Log analysis.
  - Experience in LogDNA, Kibana, Prometheus for debugging issues.
  - Strong analytical skills, clear risk understanding, structured approach and attention to detail
  - Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  - Great team player and contributor capable of working independently

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Advanced networking protocol knowledge ( TCPIP, IPTABLES, ROUTING MODELS )
• IBM Cloud and IBM Container Service runtime environment
• Business Continuity modelling & implementation
• Hands-on performances monitoring/analysis of production cloud services
• Experience in cybersecurity engineering or data protection
