We are currently building a team of content writers who will write the content that will be published through our content creation platform and served through the mobile apps. Apps for Android and iOS device have been built for this purpose and they are planned to be released on App Store and Play Store soon after the team of content writers is ready. As a content writer in our team you will get opportunity to write news summaries that will be read by large number of app users; majority of whom will be residing in USA.
Your daily tasks will involve:
Reading news articles on various topics like politics, business, world, technology, startups and innovation from several news publishers like CNN, New York Times, Fox News, TechCrunch etc.
Writing summaries that include important facts about the story that gives the reader full perspective of the story from several sides
Link relevant tweets, articles and videos to the story
After gaining expertise you may also be assigned responsibility for reviewing content written by your colleagues before publishing it.
Required skills for this role are:
Sound grasp on English language writing, reading and listening skills
Ability to discern fact from opinion and bias present in the news article
Good summarisation skills by deciding which facts to be included in summary
Writing statements in your own words without altering the underlying facts
Good typing speed of 40-60 words per minute will be beneficial
Knowledge of ongoing international issues and events through habit of reading news
Knowledge of U.S. politics will help a great deal in doing the job
Interest in reading and writing news effectively on computer screen all day long (of course with some breaks in between : ) )
Relevant qualifications:
Mastery on English language communication skills is of prime importance for this role
Work experience as content writer, blogging can help strengthen your application.
B.A, M.A. in English, Mass Communication, Journalism would be an advantage

Job type: Full Time
Office Timing: 8am to 5pm
Workdays: Tuesday to Saturday
Holidays: Either Sunday or Monday on alternate weeks (so that we can keep up with news all around the week)
Our product Abstract News Digest is an app that aims to serve objective news summaries on U.S. politics, world, business, technology, startups and innovation. The interface of the app has been designed in such a way that it makes the news consumption experience delightful for the reader.
The need for such an app emerges from the desire that many news readers have for getting objective news which does not include any opinion of the author or is aiming to promote any propaganda and instead just presents relevant facts to the story and allows the individual readers to form their own opinion.
The company is based in Ahmedabad, one of the fastest growing Tier-1 cities in India. The company is being led by founder who has graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in U.S. with M.S. in Computer Science and has experience building personalized content discovery applications in the past.
