Chitrika is a social enterprise engaged in incubating craft enterprises. It was started in 2005 to promote self-managed and sustainable craft enterprises through its direct outreach work. Through its indirect outreach, Chitrika consults with organizations across India on crafts and collectives. In the next 5 years, Chitrika aims to reposition artisan at the core of the value-chain through collectives, technology, techno-managerial skills, and making craft/handlooms, which can be owned by weavers themselves. Chitrika's primary focus has been weavers in the last many years. Currently, Chitrika works with three weaver producer companies in Srikakulam, East Godavari, and Narayanpet engaging intensively with more than 800 weavers.
