Development Oracle SP
Grade: BA4
We have a requirement for an experienced Oracle Stored Procedure Designer/Developer to play a key part within our Retail Engineering & Development team. You will be required to lead the delivery of database access solutions spanning multiple application teams and technologies, providing support throughout the end-to-end data access development lifecycle. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to build and maintain relationships whilst working closely with our stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery within timescales and to budget.
What will you be doing?

Primary responsible for stored procedure development driving adherence to standards and guidelines, component testing, defect fix support of the system and integration testing phases, implementation and live proving support
Work with SMEs and review project requirements to determine design implications, refinement of the technical design and documentation, work with designers from other projects to ensure solution alignment.
Primarily responsible for the creation of Interface designs and for liaising with onshore counterparts in order to complete high level design deliverables for a given requirement.
Review system design documentation and code according to specifications and provide support for lifecycle of Projects in respect to Data Services deliverables
Ability to support the investigation of OAT and warranty errors and implementation of approved change requests
Understanding of database design and administration of mid-range databases, primarily Oracle but other mid-range databases are desirable with proven experience of the techniques and tools used across the development lifecycle.
Experience in database access design, with experience of data modelling and in build, designing for query access performance, resilience and live support of mid-range database components of Operational (OLTP) systems.
Proven development experience in leading the data element of projects to influence technical and delivery strategy. This includes working collaboratively with product managers, release managers and other engineers and will include working with data modellers and mid-range database DBAs.
Review data access requirements to ensure they are sufficiently comprehensive and detailed to support effective database development and be able to define and develop database access modules.
Present technical ideas (both written and verbal),anticipate potential objections and persuade others to adopt the most appropriate view.
Ensure that the technical integrity and quality of the data design is maintained throughout delivery, reviewing and approving any technical changes being proposed.
Define the optimum approach for the technical development of a project, balancing cost, time, quality and risk.

What We are Looking For

Skills in associated Database programming languages such as PL/SQL, SQL
Ability to manage a project data access lifecycle from data requirements through to deployment
Ability to liaise with Data modellers and others in the development of data requirements
Highly developed skills in troubleshooting and problem correction.

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

Formal certification in a database technology is desirable.
Understanding of non-mainframe databases
Experience in DevOps techniques and technologies
Banking or Financial Services experience is particularly desirable.
