Key responsibilities

• Meter installation: Safely and correctly install new smart meters, which can include both electricity and gas meters.

• Meter replacement: Remove old, traditional meters to make way for the new smart meters.

• Site preparation: Conduct pre-installation checks to ensure the area around the meter is safe and accessible for the installer.

• Electrical and gas connection: Connect line and load wires, ensuring correct phase and terminal configurations. For gas, this involves disconnecting the old supply and reconnecting to the new meter.

• Testing and verification: Test all connections and phases after installation to ensure power is supplied correctly to the load and the new meter is functioning properly.

• Safety protocols: Perform safety inspections of gas appliances (if applicable) and follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents.

• Customer communication: Explain the installation process to customers, set up the smart energy monitor, and demonstrate its use to the customer.

• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during or after the installation.

• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on smart meters and associated equipment.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, including any issues encountered and resolutions.
