1.   The Principal is the Head of the Institute both in terms of Statutory as well as operational functions.

2.   Responsible for overall Administration of Architectural College.

3.   To develop and implement the best practices of Academics and Research in the Institution to ensure a holistic development of the students and staff accountable for the branding of the institution as the most preferred institution in the country.

4.   Must handle effectively  the team of Professors, Associate Professors and  Assistant  Professors

5.   Must ensure 100 % admission.

6.   Must strengthen the Academic Delivery The mechanism to enhance Students  Performance

7.   Develop philosophy and objectives for B.Arch.  Program.

8.   Identifies the present needs related to the educational program and investigate, evaluate and secure resources.

9.   Select and organize learning experiences.

10.                Must determine the number of position, scope and responsibility of each teaching and non-teaching staffs.

11.                Must analyse the Job to be done in terms of needs education program.

12.                Must provide an organizational framework for effective staff functioning such as the meeting of the staff, delivery of lectures, representation of university bodies and government agencies. 

13.                Act as a chairperson for various committees.

14.                Prepare, secure, approve and above all must administrate the budget.

15.                Develop a college budget based on documented program needs, estimated enrollment of personnel and other final needs and keeps the program within the budget time.

16.                Conducting and participating in department meetings and attending various meetings in the University, Initiates and participates in research studies for the improvement of educational programmes.

17.                Recognizes the needs for continuing education for self and staff and provides stimulation of opportunities for such development.

18.                Development of the student code of conduct and college handbooks to ensure discipline.

19.                To act as a mentor to subordinate (teaching and non-teaching).
He / She should have the vision to take the institution at national and international level.

20.                Coordinate the Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Plan of SMVEC in consultation with all stakeholders

21.                Be the interface of SMVEC during the various reviews and Board Meetings.

22.                To ensure that Students undergo rigorous Training for enhancing their Employability Skills and facilitate quality placements.

23.                To create Value Adding MOUs with Industry and Institutes of repute in the form of Student Training, Academic Exchange Programs etc.

24.                Effective Stakeholders Management

25.                Perform other duties as assigned by top management.
