Job Overview


The Global Supply Chain Controls & Automation Technologies Engineer provides expertise and support to the company globally with a goal of enhancing and standardizing Ecolab’s Supply Chain Operations and Engineering Programs. This person will be an integral member of the Global Engineering team providing subject matter expertise to lead Ecolab to the next level of capability in production process equipment technologies and solutions.  This person will report into the Central Engineering function but will work with and support the Ecolab global and regional engineering teams.  Working with the Global and Regional Engineering groups, this person will design and develop Ecolab’s controls and automation strategy and design standards. This person will partner with the Global MPD, R&D and Engineering functions on global development and support of controls and automation technologies and with the Regional MPD, R&D and engineering functions for controls and automation delivery and performance support.  This person will be a point contact for Ecolab with global automation and controls suppliers and vendors.  He/she will also be responsible for helping the engineering teams translate our Ecolab Engineering OGSM to achieve the goals of highest possible ROI, quality, and infrastructure in order to achieve our global supply chain goals for safety, sales, and service.  
Main Responsibilities

Serve as the Global Controls and Automation Technologies Engineer:

  • Working with regional engineering leaders along with the MPD group, seek and deliver global controls and automation technology solutions and standards from front-end innovation through commissioning which will be compiled in blue books.
  • Develop and support global strategies to upgrade Ecolab controls and automation footprint to new standards of performance, reliability and OEE.
  • Develop global strategies for robotics and AGV’s
  • Technical support to standards and best practice development & implementation
  • Provide controls and automation technical support globally
  • Leverage solutions and lessons learned across all regions
  • Develop global metrics for controls and automation equipment and performance
  • Develop global training solutions for controls and automation equipment as needed
  • Develop and support global relationships with controls and automation technology vendors and suppliers
  • Support a global network of individuals from each regional to assure suitability of global standards

Position Requirements
Up to 30% travel may be required


Basic Qualifications

  • BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 7  years controls and automation experience in Chemical, CPG or related industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of all applicable industry codes and standards and good manufacturing practices related to the design, fabrication and operation of controls and automation
  • Capable of championing rollout of a global system within the regions.
  • Technically skilled in Controls and Automation Technologies
  • Ability to work effectively in a Matrix Organization and work with various stakeholders globally.
  • Experience managing and directing contract engineering and suppliers
  • Understands and adheres to all policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to safety, health and environmental emphasizing this perspective in their own work and in the work of others
  • Technically skilled in using Engineering tools and concepts
  • Use fact based, structured decision making process to initiate and support appropriate actions
  • Understands and adheres to Ecolab policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to safety, health and environmental emphasizing this perspective in their own work and in the work of others

 Preferred Qualifications


·         Strong controls and automation system development experience

  • Strong controls and automation start-up experience
  • Effectively exchange information, instructions and ideas within cross-functional technical groups
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to facilitate cross functional teams to a common path forward
  • Effectively manages competing priorities

·         Multiple languages a plus
