Job Description
Description
SQL Server DBA will Administer and maintain the security/integrity of the application as well as databases. Periodic database/application maintenance/troubleshooting, patches, upgrade, incident/problem management along with integration with other business applications. Knowledge of PostgreSQL and Cassandra would be added advantage.
Monitor production systems, resolve issues proactively, escalating to senior engineers, if needed
Support production and other environments consisting of SQL 2000-2008, Windows Server 2000-2014
Install, administer, and update Windows and SQL 2000-2014 servers
Trouble shoot and resolve performance related issues for SQL 2000-2014 servers
Configure and maintain replication, log shipping and MS cluster
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Installation / configuration/ maintenance and Administration of SQL SERVER 2000, 2008, 2014
Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation (Mirroring, Replication, log shipping, MS Cluster…)
Good knowledge of Transactional SQL, Stored Procedures, SQL Monitoring tools and Performance monitoring. Knowledge of Planning and implementing backup policies
Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security. Knowledge of hosting/SaaS environments, Network Operations Center protocol, focusing on systems performance and high availability.
Qualifications
Graduate in Computer Science, MCA/ Regular PG course in Computers added advantage
Min. 5 years related work experience, 3+ years in Microsoft SQL SERVER administration
Scripting knowledge (WS script, power shell, Dos and Batch scripts)
Exposure to ORACLE \ PPAS \ Cassandra would be a plus
Backup and recovery tools
Exposure to ITIL tools
