Qualifications : (i) Ph. D in Engineering/Technology in the appropriate discipline with BE/B.Tech and ME/M.Tech in the relevant branch with First class or equivalent either in BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech. Post Ph.D publications and guiding Ph.D students is highly desirable

Experience : (ii) Minimum of 10 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor* OR (iii) Minimum of 13 years experience in teaching and/or research and/or industry*

Pay Scale :

Professors (Group-A) : Level – 14 (144200 – 211800) as per 7th Pay Commission with minimum pay Rs.144200/- per month.

Associate Professors (Group-A) : Level 13 A1 (131400 – 204700) as per 7th Pay Commission with minimum pay Rs.131400/- per month.

In realization of the need for training better quality technicians to meet the large scale industrialization of the country, the ministry of Human Resource Development (the then Ministry of Education),Government of India established four Regional Technical Teachers' Training Institutes (now National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, NITTTR at Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai and Kolkata in 1967. The Institute at Chandigarh is one of these four NITTTRs, started in collaboration with Royal Netherlands Government (upto 1974). It was designed to meet the requirements of developing polytechnic education in the northern region covering the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh. The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and is managed by a Board of Governors.
