Applications are invited for the position of “Project Assistant” at the Tactile Perception (TaPer) lab at the Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IITGN)

1. Post: Project Assistant Science

i. Our lab works in understanding the cognitive and neural mechanisms of human touch perception. We use a variety of techniques like psychophysical experiments, EEG, TMS and tDCS etc. in our research. The Project Assistant will assist students in experimental design, fabrication of experimental setups, data collection and data analysis.

ii. Their main role will involve fabricating experimental set-ups, so experience in working with microcontrollers (like Arduino, Raspberry pi),3D printer, etc. is vital. The candidate must also be proficient in programming using MATLAB/Python and have a flair for data analysis. iii. The ideal candidate must be passionate about a career in research, willing to learn new ideas and skills, work well in a diverse group, independent worker and a good communicator. Previous research experience in neuroscience or cognitive science is not necessary, but preferred

2. Duration: 1 Year

3. Eligibility: Any master’s degree in science or bachelor’s/master’s degree in engineering with demonstrated hands-on experience in microcontrollers, 3D printers, laser cutter etc. Demonstrated knowledge of programming and data analysis in MATLAB/Python. Knowledge of neuroscience/cognitive science preferred, not necessary.

4. Salary: 20000-25000 INR per month based on qualification and experience
