National Institute of Oceanography Goa (NIO Goa) invites application for the position Project Associate I

Position: Project Associate-I

Project Title & Vacancy Code: Evaluating the impact of oil pollution on mangrove habitats, and their associated biota to assess their adaptations and resilience capacity.

Tenure: 3 Months

Essential Qualification: M.Sc Biochemistry / Environmental Science / Microbiology / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics

Desirable Qualification &  Job Requirement: Experience in working with microbial samples. knowledge of molecular biology techniques and bioinformatic analysis of metagenomic data.To carry out field trips for sampling in the mangrove habitat. Isolation of microbes, molecular characterization and analysis of metagenomic data.

Position: Project Associate-I

Project Title & Vacancy Code: Morphological studies of the Gulf of Mannar (GoM) Islands using remote sensing and in-situ measurements

Tenure: 3 Months

Essential Qualification:  Masters in Applied Geology / Geology or B.E/B.Tech in Civil with NET(LS)/GATE qualifications

Desirable Qualification &  Job Requirement: Masters in Remote sensing, two years experience in satellite data processing and GIS software. Experience in coastal processes studies. To participate in field trips in boats/trawlers/ships and along the coastal areas. To carry out research in coastal processes. To prepare research articles and any other tasks assigned by the project leader.
